   Messages Per Hour


I would like to purchase a CommuniGate Pro plug-in for anti-virus and/or anti-spam, but I need to know how many messages per hour I am processing. How can I determine this?


You can use the CommuniGate Pro Logs (Web Administration Interface: Monitors | Logs). If your Queue log levels (Settings | Mail | Queue) are set to at least 'Problems', then you should see log entries similar to the following for each messages that is enqueued (processed):

09:52:40.331 2 QUEUE([45544365]) enqueued
09:52:43.715 2 QUEUE([45544368]) enqueued
09:52:46.372 2 QUEUE([45544373]) enqueued
09:52:46.399 2 QUEUE([45544374]) enqueued
09:52:46.406 2 QUEUE([45544357]) enqueued
09:52:46.418 2 QUEUE([45544364]) enqueued

As you can see each message ID is unique, and each log entry is time stamped. What you can do to isolate just these log entries is type the following into the filter at the top of the log file you are viewing:


Make sure the 'RegEx' (Regular Expression) box is checked. Once you have run the filter, copy the entries for a given hour into a text editor or some other application with line counting capabilities and you will know how many messages were processed.
