directory record has a duplicate DN

Question

When I try to create a new user in CommuniGate I get an error of 'directory record has a duplicate DN'

Answer

This means even though the account no longer exists it still has an entry in CommuniGate's  LDAP directory.

You will need to remove the already existing record by going to (Directory - Browser) in your admin interface. You will see cn=domain.com click that.
Then find the entry for the user by filtering for '(uid=username)' then click on uid=username, once your in that users record, click on delete record to remove the user from the directory.

You now should be able to create the user with that same username.
